At York University’s IEP Bridging Program business students complete three university level courses to ensure their soft skills are top notch. These include:
- Professional Communication in the Canadian Context;
- Canadian Business Culture & Management Skills;
- Object Oriented Programming,
These foundation courses provide a full overview and practice of communication, teamwork, cross-cultural problem solving, leadership and management skills within the Canadian context. The Object-Oriented Programming foundation course provides the fundamental Java programming skills to Internationally Educated Professionals who already have some computer programming training in other programming languages.
IT Certificate – Streams and specialized courses
The program also enables IEP Information Technology students the opportunity to take up to 5 advanced level university IT courses in their area of specialization, these include:
- System Analysis;
- Big Data;
- Enterprise Systems;
- Application Development.
Through these specialized courses students in the IT stream then gain current local professional knowledge and skills in their areas of expertise. Students choose from courses depending on their stream, examples of courses include: Web Technologies, Internet Client Service Systems, System Analysis and Design, Introduction to Data Analytics, Data Warehousing and Business Intelligence, Web Mining, Business Process Management Systems, ERP Systems Configuration, Using and Designing Database Systems, Internet Client Server Systems, Building E Commerce Systems, Requirements Management, Software Engineering, Platform Computing and Computer Network Protocols and Applications. New courses are being developed for 2019 in Applied Artificial Intelligence and Enterprise Architecture.
